The Cobalt project is an installation about the use of cobalt in batteries and the conditions children and adults are exposed to in Democratic Republic of Congo, such as child labor, exploitation and dangerous environment.
The starting point was broken phones and by diving more into how one phone is composed, I stumbled upon the cobalt as a main element in every battery.
The key elements of the box was transparency and overlaying.
The project is noncommercial and it’s made only for educational purposes, the research the text is based on the book “Cobald Red” by Kara Siddhart. (2022)
